Coporaque is the first place in the Colca Canyon to which both the Incas and the Spaniards arrived.
This is a small village but is home to one of the oldest churches in the Colca Canyon, Santiago Apóstol.
Built in 1569 Santiago Apóstol survived the earthquakes to which other churches fell victim over the years. The church houses a small collection of interesting religious artefacts.
In the hills above Corporaque are the ruins an old Inca settlement, Uyu Uyu. They are located a thirty minute walk uphill from the road, but worth the effort.
A temple to the Moon, and a Temple to the Sun can be seen, and visitors are invited to make an offering to the Inca Gods whilst visiting the ruin. The remains of a two storey Inca settlement can also be seen.
