Nested on the side of the Valley and in the lakes of the Andes, the area plays host to a wonderful variety of birds.
Andean Duck
One the most beautiful species of ducks in the Andeans. It couples for life and defends it aquatic territories with fierceness. In contrast to other ducks it is an excellent diver and it can regulate the depth at which it floats. Its main source of food is the vegetation found in the in the lakes.
Puna Ibis
A gregarious bird that forms large flocks in the inundated areas and lakes of the high Andes. It’s long curved beak allows it to feed on invertebrates it captures in the mud of the shore. It is common at altitudes above 3000 masi.
Puna hawk
The eaglets are the top predators in the Andean skies. They feed on small birds and rodents, which they capture thanks to their acute vision and powerful talons. Solitary they like to fly over the valleys in search of prey.
